Queer photographer Jill Posener's lifelong compulsion to document offers intimate glimpses of radical feminist London, 1990s Bay Area lesbian culture, and contemporary unhoused communities. A lifelong rebel, she now considers where she might belong in the final chapter of her life.
Lauretta Molitor is a veteran production sound recordist whose recent documentary work includes The AI Doc, The Auntie Sewing Squad Resistance Playbook, Dolores, and SALLY! She began her career in high school assistant editing for PBS and now also works as a filmmaker and personal life historian.
After recording Jill’s oral history as a stand-alone project, my co-director Asali Echols and I knew we had to do more, and tell Jill’s compelling story more fully, and visually. With this portrait we hope viewers will come away with an understanding of how the trajectory of her life, photography and activism was shaped through themes of gender, belonging, and uncertainties of where to call home.
