Manic draws from my own experiences with compulsory heterosexuality and enforced gender conformity. Many of the toxic elements present in my protagonist's life are pulled from my own lived experience. For me, liberation for me came in the form of embracing my lesbian and non-binary identity. This unlocked my artistic practice and resulted in an explosion of creation. It's this explosive creation that I strive to represent with Manic; symbolizing the personal and artistic transformation that comes with embracing who you are.
