Synopsis

Director's Statement

Smoker is a 15 minute fiction short film about the juxtaposition between violence and love in combat sports. […] I want to explore a unique kind of non-verbal communication that from the outside looks frightening and intense, but in context is actually intimate, supportive, and even loving. […] A Muay Thai gym is far from a conventionally soft, loving environment – I want to explore how love and support flourish there, which can then help them flourish in an increasingly hard, hateful world.
