When an unexpected setback derails the production of his first short film, Sasha improvises a Plan B: stepping in front of the camera himself. What begins as a last-minute creative solution turns into a funny, vulnerable, and deeply personal confession. Between dreams of becoming James Bond, struggles with his body, and a lifetime of searching for trans representation on screen, Sasha confronts an unexpected realization: he is a trans man who has internalized transphobia himself. Blending humor and self-reflection, Plan B explores identity, gender dysphoria, and the courage it takes to finally become the leading man in your own story.
Sasha La Photographe is a Montreal-based visual storyteller whose career spans photography, filmmaking, cultural production, and live events. For more than twenty years, he has collaborated with artists and organizations to tell meaningful stories and make people too often absent from the screen more visible. His work combines documentary sensitivity, humor, and a commitment to LGBTQIA2+ communities. With Plan B, created during the 2026 Kino Kabaret in Montreal, Sasha steps in front of the camera to explore his own trans identity, the images and role models that shaped him, and the freedom to tell his story on his own terms.
I spent more than twenty years behind the camera, making others visible. When our original plan fell through, I turned the lens on myself. Plan B grew out of that setback, but also out of an urgent question: why did it take me so long to recognize the man I am? Through humor, discomfort, and confession, I explore gender dysphoria, internalized transphobia, and the lack of people I could see myself in on screen. I am not offering a perfect answer. I want to start a conversation and show that it is never too late to tell your own story.
