Director's Statement

Nature Girl emerged from years of returning to the same forest in shíshálh territory, where our practice shifted from observing wildlife to learning relationship with the land. […] Guided by shíshálh knowledge and queer ecology, and shaped through long-term attention, the film celebrates the surprising multispecies relationships of the coastal rainforest. […] Nature Girl reflects a relational approach to filmmaking—one that invites audiences to move beyond objectifying wildlife and into making relationships with the land.
