Capitão Lima is born from my most beautiful memories and my deepest fears. […] My first memory of freedom took place on Capitão Lima Street, in the city of Recife, during a birthday party for a theater company. There, for the first time, I was able to dance the way I wanted and kiss other men in public. […] Freedom becomes a muscle that must be exercised every day, so that we do not forget that we have already disarmed the "captains" who once controlled us and who no longer threaten us.
