Maxence is the last crystal glassblower in the glass factory. Obsessed with the disappearance of crystals, she relentlessly searches for the last blue crystal. Lana, a newcomer to the village, disrupts her daily life. A slow-burning desire grows between the two women, and their encounter leads them to uncover a long-buried legend.
Originally from Franche-Comté (France), Clara Monnain is a writer-director and a graduate of La CinéFabrique, where she studied production. Her films explore spaces on the margins: rural landscapes, commercial areas, parking lots, where she follows women in search of emancipation. She captures these often-overlooked landscapes as poetic territories where the fantastical can emerge. Her graduation film, Bestiaire, was selected for the Clermont-Ferrand International Short Film Festival, the Lovers Film Festival, and the Effervescence Festival in Mâcon. Alongside her writing and directing projects, she also works in film programming and on film sets in production management and casting.
In this project, I want to portray different forms of femininity, lesbian women who desire one another, fall in love, and understand each other completely. I want to capture an attraction, a tension that cannot be restrained. I am also interested in giving space to forms of femininity that are not usually desired, giving them a body, an identity, and eyes that look at them with longing.
