Bretten Hannam[filmmaker]
Bretten Hannam is a Two-Spirit L’nu filmmaker from Kespukwitk, Mi’kma’ki (Nova Scotia). Their work explores community, culture, and Two-Spirit identity. Notable films include North Mountain (2015), Wildfire (2019), and Wildhood (2021), which premiered at TIFF and received six Canadian Screen Award nominations and was the Opening Film of I+N34. Their 2025 film At the Place of Ghosts (Sk+te’kmujue’katik) won the Gordon Parsons Award for Best Atlantic Canadian Feature at the Atlantic International Film Festival, where it also received honors for Best Cinematography and Best Original Music (for Jeremy Dutcher), highlighting Hannam’s continued excellence in storytelling and visual craft.
