Through evolving projects, image+nation culture queer explores the diversity of LGBTQ+ life and living through Queer Storytelling. Help us continue supporting and championing these stories. We can create a future for LGBTQ+ creators and audiences by making LGBTQ+ stories and storytelling accessible and shareable for all.

We would like to acknowledge that the land on which we physically gather and virtually stream to vou is located on unceded Indigenous lands. The Kanien:keha'ka Nation is recognized as the custodians of the lands and waters upon which image+nation takes place. Tiohtià:ke/ Montreal is historically known as a gathering place for many First Nations. Today, it is home to a diverse population of Indigenous and other peoples. We recognize the rich Indigenous heritage of this place, a place that is a source of pride and inspiration for the entire Montreal community.

Synopsis

A textile artist, lukewarm about the girl she's been dating, learns about “the sweater hex”- the belief that if you make someone a sweater, the relationship will end before you finish it- and decides to knit her a sweater instead of simply telling her how she feels.

Filmmaker Bio

Nikki Mezaros is a queer writer and director in Los Angeles who was most recently a staff writer for HBO. She's developing a feature with Lauren Miller Rogen attached to direct. Her short film, The Boyfriend Sweater, stars musical artist Miya Folick and Paula Andrea Placido (The L Word: Generation Q, Apples Never Fall), and features an original song by Miya. It's premiering at Bushwick Film Festival this fall, and marks her directorial debut. Nikki has also directed music videos for musical artists such as Ogreta.
